I asked you yesterday why it was my job to regulate justice around here. I thought you got the point. You said "OK."

I am not the thread moderator. You know that I don't want to be a thread moderator. I am an individual participant with my own objectives in being here, my own set of values, my own experiences, and my own opinions. I try to be a good citizen of the thread and to model civil behavior, but I am not the thread mommy. It is not my job to validate anyone. Nor am I thread saint. OK?

I'm here for the discussion. The camaraderie is nice, too, but I'm mostly here for the discussion. In order to have discussion you need a mix of interesting people who have the inclination and capacity to discuss. This capacity would include such things as writing ability, intelligence, and temperament. All that is by way of background. My point is about the "mix of interesting people." Now, if there were available any skinheads or convicted murderers or al Qaeda members who had the "capacity to discuss," I would want them included because they would enliven the discussion and because we could get insights from them. Now, you must admit that, compared to that lineup, X is quite tame. I like having X in the mix. Simple as that.

Regarding bringing X into the mix, I have long since abandoned that project as unfeasible. This post is not a lobbying effort. I am merely trying to present a perspective on my actions to compete with the favoritism model that has become popular around here on the off chance that anyone is open-minded enough to want to entertain alternatives.
