TOKYO, June 12 Asia Pulse - The nation's domestic shipments of mobile telephones, including car and PHS (personal handyphone system) phones, fell 36.2 per cent on the year to 3.11 million units in April, the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association announced Tuesday.
The decline is the 11th in a row.

Domestic shipments of cellular phones stood at 2.98 million units, down 35.5 per cent from the year-earlier level.

Shipments of NTT DoCoMo Inc. (TSE:9437) FOMA 3G (third generation) handsets came to about 105,500 units.

The ratio of mobile phone users to the Japanese population as a whole stood at 59.5 per cent in April.
