Why is it only wrong (to you) when the columnist has a conservative viewpoint?

Bashing only works if you have a sense of humor, left or right. That is what "makes it" for Molly Ivin, George Will, and Mark Steyn. I would never post columns from Dowd, a favorite Liberal of yours, because of her shrill bashing, and constant negative viewpoint. Cal Thomas is a conservative that has more outlets in newspapers than any other columnist, and I never read him because he is so dull.
