Did you place a lot of confidence in polls during Clinton's impeachment trial? I didn't then and don't now. The reason is both questions and context can be massaged to produce any conclusion. The polls of interest would be the confidential polls taken by the Republican and Democrats for their own internal use. Those tend to be more accurate, according to political consultants. More interesting than the content of these polls is the timing of their announcement, imo. The purpose generally has to do with attempting to influence current legislative activity on the day, or the week, of the poll announcement. The polls during impeachment were to say, "he's popular! Knock off the impeachment!". These polls are to say, "he's popular! Knock off the investigations!". Meanwhile, the investigations go forward.
