Based on personal experience, I think the answer is yes,

Fascinating. I could understand how they might recognize the smell of spices associated with an ethnic group, but I would think they would be color blind, not literally, but in the sense of racism. If a black were a cook in a Chinese restaurant, I would think that the dog would consider him Chinese. When I get some time, I may research that.
