True enough, but not an adequate description for all the Pal. groups. 'Nationalism' does not accurately describe the ideology of Hamas and PIJ. Those orgs are truly ideological soulmates of al Qaeda, in the PIJ's case, literally a sister org. to Muslim Brotherhood, which merged with al Qaeda last year. And the PLO has adopted more and more of the Islamist program.

Yep, while this is yet another topic change, I do agree with your point. I was deliberately excluding the influence of Hamas and PIJ. I know that's a leap and I expected you would say something about that earlier.

As I've watched and read over the past several months, it still looks to me as if the nationalism component is the predominant ideological motive. Though I have absolutely no doubt that the more Sharon incursions the more that will shift. As I've said before, I'm afraid those incursions are counter productive.
