What we laughably call our 'national media' is quite easily lead around by their noses these days. I'm not sure if it's any one thing... lack of professionalism, corporate bottom-line pressures favoring 'infotainment' over hard news, consolidation of media outlets into an oligopolistic structure that protects their advertising revenue over all else, a simple preference for 'sex scandal fluff' over hard economic/international/political/ or science reporting. Whatever the reasons are, what passes for 'national media' these days is heavily out-matched by our current crop of Spin Masters....
