Is the "House of Saud" our enemy? WARNING! EXTREME ANALOGY OVERKILL. WARNING! I think we have three types of enemy. The first, Iraq is an example, is a traditional enemy. A sovereign nation which poses a threat to our well being. To the degree that we feel threated by them it makes sense to attack and remove the threat. (I still see no compelling evidence that Iraq is a real threat but I remain very open to that possibility.) The second, Al Qaeda is an example, it like a virus. You cannot see it or touch it but it is deadly none the less. A viral attack must be couner-attacked relentlessly and ruthlessly until every individual virus is dead. This is a new kind of war and will take time to master. The third, Saudia Arabia is an example, is a host to the virus. The host means no harm and is not complict in the viral attack. However, the host is still very dangerous. It feeds the virus and allows it to breed. No matter what it's intent, the outcome is still deadly. At some point the host becomes so infected that it gives over autonomy to the virus. Saudi Arabia is a fertile host and the virus will not be killed until all the hosts are returned to health with strong immune systems. So is the House of Saud our enemy. Maybe not but they are a problem. Paul
