"All of commerce depends on honest transactions conducted in good faith"

And in your mind "good faith" can only mean religion, esp Christianity? I conduct lots of transactions on good faith and I don't have to tell you I'm not religious...

I have faith in pilots when I fly, doctors when I'm sick, the Supreme Court to make the right decision, I'd say my broker but that would be a laugh......none of these faiths are based on religion...

Your argument is a stretch, but I can see where you're coming from.

Organized religion historically has been the facilitator of moral values, but there are ways of teaching morality other than going to church every Sunday morning or bowing in the direction of Saudi Arabia five times a day. In fact, with the decline of organized religion in the United States, the teaching of morality for future generations will have to occur outside the traditional house-of-worship setting.

The phenomenon of "state atheism" is quite recent in the history of man (and woman) on earth, and, I would point out, bears no direct links to economic systems.
