I'm not sure, but unless most of the 89 cents per share of quarterly profits were from one-time gains rather than operations, then I think the fact that the stock was trading before the report at only 5x quarterly profits is a pretty good explanation for the "big surge" to 6.7x quarterly profits.

But then, is a PE of 1.25 on annualized earnings low enough in this market? Perhaps it should have gone down instead.
