Same here, the long position this morning on QCOM (and suggestions to dark siders to cover with the minimal profits) was tactical, it also called for reshorting well above $32, well, we hit $33 and the $34.5 is still the Maginot line, so I presume some smart dark siders are going to use the "G&C" tomorrow to reestablish positions with a stop at $34.5.

I never played NOK before but depending on where the market goes tomorrow, I may just put a short stop in at 12 and jump in if the momentum breaks to the downside.. I cant understand how anyone concluded anything positive from their guidance the other morning.. Probably just an imbalance from all the people short because it was such a 'sure' thing : )

Semibear, NOK is way behind in the CDMA business. NOK is losing share to Samsung, Motorola and others who dominate CDMA phones. NOK is not a QCOM customer per se since they don't buy chips from QCOM. NOK is still trying to make their own CDMA chips and overall have failed miserably. NOK does use QCOM chips that they get from Telson in Korea. The only way NOK benefits QCOM is that a licensing fee is paid to QCOM on every CDMA sale.

Re a QCOM warning, don't plan on it! They just announced their 2nd quarter earnings in May and reaffirmed guidance for the year.

Others are much more qualified to comment on these matters but I feel very comfortable in what I've stated. Regards.
