Sorry, my point was that each religion has embarrassments that cannot easily be shrugged away. Islam has the nine year old wife, and probably more. Christianity has a good number of passages in the Bible that are inconsistent or downright wrong, in the context of what Christianity seems to be teaching.

Fundamentalist Christians have a tendency to have a very literal interpretation of the Bible. These same fundamentalists (Southern Baptists) are the ones that are charging that Islam is an inferior religion, and calling Mohammed a demon pedophile. They also use literal references in the Bible to show that women are and always will be subservant to men. You can't have it both ways. If you are a literalist, you have to accept the 'bad' parts. And then, certainly, you're living in a glass house and shouldn't be slinging stones at the Muslims.

Dave, you should check into the Southern Baptists. They are not a 'fringe' group (unless you meant that in the context of the 'lunatic fringe'). They are large, and powerful, and are in the process of attacking Islam. How will that get us closer to peace?
