Ork: Most local white goods builders give a one year guarantee.... i.e., no service costs whatsoever during that period. Service beyond that period is also quite inexpensive with most of them (they want the repeat business). With respect to over-all costs, the white goods guys win by a mile. Dell is both much more expensive and much less useful to the average family. Check out your own local guy.... you will be pleasantly surprised.
