DNC Spokesgal: I Love Saying 'Mean, Ridiculous Things' About Bush-Cheney When it comes to blowing political spitballs at the Bush White House, no one can accuse Democratic National Committee spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri of being timid. In fact, the former Clinton White House PR operative doesn't even bother to pretend that her anti-Bush potshots are rooted in anything other than partisan animus. "The greatest thing about my job is that, like, I say, like, ridiculous things that are mean about Bush and Cheney," Palmieri told WABC Radio's Batchelor and Alexander Wednesday night. "And I know that they actually read it themselves and they're thinking, 'Who the hell does this woman think she is?'" In the apparent hope of giving the White House still more headaches, Palmieri kept up the rhetorical sniper fire. On the juxtaposition of FBI whistle-blower Coleen Rowley's testimony last Thursday with Bush's announcement of a homeland security shake-up the same day, she observed: "I think that [Bush political guru] Karl Rove has taken over the dissemination of national security information. It's kind of scary." On the Bush administration's terror alerts, Palmieri told WABC: "They're messing around with the nation's well-being. I mean, I think it's gotten to the point where they're, like, the "scare America" administration." On Vice President Dick Cheney's warning last month to Democrats that they were being irresponsible to imply the White House knew enough to prevent the 9-11 attacks: "They had Cheney go out [and say] in incredibly harsh, basically McCarthy-like language there, you know, 'You better watch what you say. ...'" On White House reaction to Sen. Hillary Clinton's demand to know what Bush knew before 9-11: "You had [Bush press secretary] Ari Fleischer, without provocation, going after Sen. Clinton. Going after Hillary Clinton is obviously such a political thing to do. ... It showed us how flipped out they were." Perhaps one reason the DNC spokeswoman hasn't lost her talent for smash-mouth politics is because she still keeps in close contact with the master of the art form, Bill Clinton, with whom she traveled to Ireland last week to help dedicate a peace center. "Occasionally, his former staff will do advance [work] for him," Palmieri explained.newsmax.com tom watson tosiwmee
