Bonding with a dog is a great experience, from which we can learn much. That doesn't seem to happen with cats.

It is true that "bonding" and "cat" don't fit well in the same sentence, but there is a lot to be learned from a relationship with a cat, as well. For example, loving a cat trains one well for the separation that occurs (in healthy relationships) when children grow up and away. Also a model for loving one's fellow man, with whom one has no personal relationship. And for loving someone who doesn't tell you what you want to hear or is not at your beck and call.
