Mike, wrong, we have always faced this evil threat. 9-11 happened because the American people lost sight of it and elected truly blind folks concerning the dangers. The general shift of opinions that made many idiotic PC ideas acceptable. All invisible attacks that weakened resolve and focus. The stupidest that ever was was like a climatic pustule of corruption of American civility and nobility. Malaise, all were not focusing correctly. 9-11 awoke many and the stupid are still stupid. But the majority know what stupid is now. The market reflects the inability to identify earnings growth based upon much uncertainty. But computer systems improve and productivity improves and eventually the winner and losers will become known. tom watson tosiwmee

The responsibility is clearly on the American people. The victims of attacks won't be the politicians in their bunkers... The politicians claim "responsibility", but then evade accountability and are deathly afraid of any investigation. Maybe that makes me a cynic. I've seen it too often. Worse, this "responsibility" is actually "the buck stops there", where no one is called on the carpet, no one is fired, no one is allowed to be investigated, and in fact the most massive failure of intel/DOD in our nation's history is... rewarded
