IMO the market is alot more diverse now than in '74. Also, derivative positions were a small % back then. I think we will see some derivative unwinding before the bottom, ala LTCM. If Greenspan had not helped them out in '98, that would not have given the green light to more derivative players but reduced the exposure... IMO
