Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if we have a few panic down days soon. I agree with Jeff, they may hold it up a little longer but the sentiment is too complacent for this type of bear. A quote from the big picture in Investor's Business Daily today: "The put/call ratio, which challenged extreme levels at 0.96 Wednesday, fell to 0.81. That's puzzling action for a day that saw losers slap winners by fairly wide margins."
It just doesn't seem like there is much demand for equities out there and a large supply of stock for distribution. As you said before, most of these rallies seem to be short covering inspired and people very complacent, imho.
