No I think you are wrong. Patent theft and business rip offs proves that recognition of ideas worth stealing is going on every day. You have to give business thieves credit. They steal better ideas and bankrupt them faster than the Nobel committee can hand out the awards.

What is wrong with being a communist? What else were you going to do behind the iron curtain? The threat of turning in your parents for being reactionaries was probably what kept many a communist youth from getting a beating and many a parent from not being observationally Marxist. Coercive and internally divisive societies are a great way to keep people from being honest. And lets face it, nobody gets anywhere being frank. Nobody likes that. It's like being in a nudist camp and tittering at the shape people are in.

You didn't seem to realize that, in times of war, even notorious criminals --- ruthless killers, master forgers, impersonators and others --- have been used to good effect
by their country .
