Hi Puck,

What names are on the JP Morgan report? Did the McKinsey people co-author it? There were some seminal reports on the decline of long-distance and service provider markets from a team led by Tod A. Jacobs of JP Morgan H&Q, and Paul Roche of McKinsey.

Puck,

<< Is wireless dead? >>

No.

Resting ... like tech in general.

Wireless data simply is yet to take shape as we transition generations, and given macro-economics of the sector noone has a positive outlook.

<< The J.P. Morgan opinion of zero wireless industry growth through 2006 has flummoxed me because of its extreme pessimism. ... J.P. Morgan analysts predict that the dollar value of wireless industry revenues will not grow during each of the next five years. Is this possible? Any comments? >>

I personally think it is highly improbable and that once cap ex frees up (and that won't take 5 years) and GPRS and 1xRTT data start to gain acceptance (not an overnight phenomenon - could take the better part of 18 months) we will see solid growth, particularly on the infrastructure side as well as in enabling and applications software.
