Dear C: As usual, the American Public has more common sense then many of our elected officials. I think its always been that way (the tail wagging the dog). Be interesting to see how it develops in this years elections. I am AMAZED so many Democrat ads feature them with BUSH. haha. I think Pres. Bush is the PEOPLES PRESIDENT and is why he is so well liked. He might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he has common sense and a feel for WHAT IS RIGHT. I will take that over some fancy Oxford CROOK anytime, and looks like majority agree with me. JDN

Nice try, Morris the Weasel

"sacrificing personal liberties to catch terrorists" is simply a commonsense response to fear. Your choice? Submit to more investigation, or be killed. Anyone answering that question differently is suicidal.

"Profiling"? No one cares. It's a strawman constructed by apologists like Morris to then knock down, as if anyone really wants to ignore Arabs in the terrorist category.

"Half of all Americans believe that "terrorists will detonate a nuclear device on U.S. soil" within the next 10 years - and 16 percent expect it within the next 12 months"

True. Specifically due to very public pronouncements by public officials, even if bogus ones like Ashcroft's dirty bomb scare, about an individual who had no access to materials, who even Wolfowitz dismissed as "loose talk".
reason.com

"people are a lot less interested in the Washington effort to apportion blame for 9/11."

Not true. Well, maybe less interested than, say, not being blown up at Starbuck's. But Morris can't dismiss a deep interest among millions in exactly wtf happened with the most massive intelligence and defense failure in our nation's history. That's not going away.

"To read the media is to see an America turning on itself frothing with questions "
No. To read the media is to see lackeys playing the role of lapdogs, avoiding any investigation, and fully supporting a captive Congress' irrelevant debate.
The only frothing being done is from the administration, Ashcroft's dirty-bomb and other sensationalist announcements.

"Largely trusting of the government, it is quite willing to see common-sense actions to fight and prevent terror"

No, none of the questions show a trust in government, just the necessity for government agencies to do their damn job, and the hope of not getting killed. A question like, "do you trust your government (or Bush, etc.) to be honest with the American people?" would be an indicator, and Morris knows it.

LOL! "quite willing to see common-sense actions" !!
Of course. People are quite willing, and are wondering where, exactly, these actions are? If we have such actions, why is the threat escalating each week?

Dear C and all: Today is Flag Day, are you all proudly wearing the Red, White and Blue? At least a flag lapel pin? If not, get with the program. JDN
