Dan, there's one point that no one seems to have made. PEOPLE HATE STOCKS right now. One of the major fuels of the great bull market of the 80s and 90s was the flow of money into mutual funds and stocks. While this flow continues for retirement plans, more of it is going into bond funds, etc., much lower percentage into growth sectors. the small cap and mid cap value sectors, which were the big winners, are starting to look questionable.
while suck hatred is a good sign of a bottom, there also is the possibility that we are seeing a quantum or sea change in the investing mindset of the american public.

this happened in the 50s or 60s i think. after the last infatuation with mutual funds. larry
