you'd prefer them not interrupting your walk in the woods?

If there is an accident where ever I am, I would like to think I have enough emergency training to apply the "first 30 mins" techniques to preserve life. Of course a cell phone would be handy to call the emergency services. Usually though even the squirrels have those things and somebody can phone.

If a "loved one" of mine was involved in an accident, it's just my sincere hope that a similierly trained person to also make an attempt to preserve life. The skills applied are at least as important as dialing that number and standing back because you are worried you might do something wrong and get sued. Whether I heard about it in 1min, 1 hour, 1 day or even weeks later is of little immediate use.

With many difficult jobs, it's better to leave the guys at the scene make the decisions. Often there is not time to fart around "going through channels" to cover your butt when you have responsible decisions to make.

My kids do take a cell phone with them when they go out. The agreement is I don't use it (to call them) they don't use it either except in an emergency. If they were out, and I was out in the woods too, then I would take a cell phone with me. That rarely happens though -g-
