"In my book, that makes someone a liar.

Someone who insists on referring to a third party falsely as a liar while dismissing reasonable explanations as to why the term does not apply and in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary is a, What? and don't say a lawyer, or a Christopher Hodgkins although both are true in this case.

That said, with respect to your implied request that language use here be moderated, I will refrain from posting that again as long as others here follow the same guidelines, and name calling, insulting, etc. are eliminated from this thread.

I am NOT on a campaign against name calling and insults--I do have both feet firmly planted on the ground--only suggesting that people use an accurate name, not one that is either off target or unjustifiably strong or both.

I'm not clear why liar was a ridiculous charge.
He promised A.

He did B.

In my book, that makes someone a liar.

I disagree with your usage of the word. If someone promises A, assuming he did promise A, and then does B, there are other plausible explanations than an intent to not fulfill the promise at the time that the promise was made, which is what "liar" connotes. You may be able to argue "renege" but "lie" assumes intent that has not been demonstrated.

Yep. That's where your problem begins...
