The proper AMDroid response to this question is that Sun will eventually adopt the Hammer processor in all of their product lines, thus allowing customers the most cost efficient upgrade path.

Of course, we all know how eager Sun is to introduce low cost and low margin products into their business model.

Tench, what? Dead-end sparcs? All I am saying is that CIOs have to make a decision that helps their dept and their company. Until Intel can make a case of how spending hundreds of thousands to upgrade their servers and software can help a dept and a company they won't ship more than pilot quantities of Itaniums.
