My data on demand for wireless data communications comes from meetings involving chambers of commerce and wireless service providers. It is anecdotal, but I still think it indicates that people really want more service than the service providers are delivering. There are two sources of demand. First is that people don't like the low performance of Cable TV modems when the traffic is high. Second, they can't always find DSL service, and even if that is available, it's quite expensive. They're willing to pay high prices on wireless because of the additional flexibility combined with reasonably high speed.
