today has distinct has pattern similarity to the 4/4/2000, though volume on 4/4/2000 was 2.8 billion.
But it was intraday volatility like today that was preceding to a massive sell-off. Max

inspite jam to the green NASDAQ ended with 29 NHs and 219 NLs. NYSE was 40 NHs and 147 NLS.
Nasdaq up volume 526million, down volume 947million.
Advancers 1233 Decliners 2097.
That is what is called hocus pocus:) They got their green by hitting the market weighted biggies. Max
