Tench, Upgrading Sun,Power4 Hardware does not involve upgrading existing apps that runs on Sun hardware already ( well, most of the time ).

Opterons will fill a different market ( lower than the one that IA-64 is aiming for ) and existing software should work on it without an immediate need for an upgrade ( although one will be needed if the customer decides they need x86-64 functionality ).
