Yes, I have seen people really hurt by an overly aggressive performer. On the other hand, the really great ones can expose feelings and foibles without leaving them unresolved. These are truly sensitive and can be spotted instantly...

I don't go to that stuff for the same reason. But, what I really hate is when I pick a quite booth for dinner and the guitar player shows up at the table to play lovely songs intended to create a mood. yuck, I am so uncomfortable with that. I never know if I am supposed to stop enjoying the companionship of my company to appreciate his artistry, go on as if he is background, include him somehow, hint for him to move on, or what. I don't like him in my space any which way. Since I am always on my best behavior in public I try to be very polite to the intruder, which is torturous. Of course the kids know that and think it is funny. sheesh
