In that context I'm less concerned about which architecture is going to prevail in the next generation of servers than I am about when corporate executive finally see something compelling enough to make them feel the need to upgrade in large enough numbers to spur greater growth than we are currently experiencing. mg I agree, there really isn't a current compelling reason to upgrade, I just can't help noticing that when that point of view is posted by the Droids, somewhere in that same post...... With Almost No Exception........ Is also the statement to the effect: "That's why Hammer is going to take Itanium's market". No such thing will happen IMO. The argument is that Hammer will run 32 bit better than Itanium. Mckinley has a full P3 Logic Core on it, so that point is now moot. While the "Millions" of Programs that SOME require for IA-64 to be successfull, the point that is never mentioned is that there is currently NO Currently running 64 BIT Applications for x86-64. Yet, the AMDroids still assume that people will pay x86-64 prices for excellent 32 Bit Performance. Oh yeah, right, I forgot, only 800MHz, might not even perform AS WELL on 32 bit. Yeah, give me that "Slower Than Athlon", "Slower than P4", Performance for a Higher Price. It Didn't seem to fly when they were talking Rambus..... Oh yeah, I forgot, it's the first stepping (supposedly), so they'll improve it....... So has Rambus, and it aint gotten any easier for them....... I just hope the Hammer fans ain't holding their breath expecting another Athlon Home Run, because if so, I think they'll suffocate. Hummmmmmmmm....... Wait a minute, on second thought, they SHOULD hold their breath...... Semi
