Rear view mirror: <"The key issue that everyone is facing in the wireless industry is that the extraordinary growth of the last 15 years is slowing down," said Scott Ellison, wireless and mobile communications program director at the research firm IDC. >

So far, cellphones have enabled talk, at a high price, with poor coverage and flat batteries.

The good part is just beginning, ironically, with Sprint, Leap and others financially pummelled. But It's nevertheless just starting. We ain't seen nuthin' yet...

Scott Ellison is merely looking at the end of stage one. The demise of analog, TDMA, GSM, PHS and other anachronisms such as GPRS, IS-95, yet-unborn Bleeding EDGE....etc is underway.... The good stuff is just beginning. The old stuff has done all it can do [more or less - though it was badly mismanaged]
