Silviculture is a perfectly obvious, productive, honorable, long-lasting, and venerable enterprise that benefits humans and the environment alike. But it takes the entire lifespan of several foolish environmentalists to carry out. When somebody makes a core decision to devote his life to it, he's showing a profound faith in the future not held by the ignoramuses who claim to love the environment more than humanity. The "real world," as you put it, cloaks their anti-silviculture environmentalist conspiracy in platitudes--but they know not what they do.

I'm not sure what you mean by "There's a reason you are in the hinterlands" but if by that you mean I've been relegated to Alaska with others who don't fit in the political game you might have a point. What to me seems perfectly obvious (thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife, and the other nine) doesn't register in the so-called brains of the likes of Bill Clinton and most of his henchmen. Therefore I vote for George Bush, a person who knows where he came from, where he stands, and where he's going.

The political world seems to be peopled mainly lawyers, a tribe that cares more about winning than about fairness and justice. That's why I always vote for the non-lawyers when I get a chance. I'm clear about my politics, but what you call the permutations is nothing more than mud in the water.

Sorry, but you just revealed your age. I'm a boomer too, and I haven't left yet. I'm making a valiant attempt at it, though.
