It looks like you are linking Enron to what you discern to be an anemic economy.

IOW, you appear to implicate corruption at the corporate level to a lack of confidence at the public level, with the result being a poorly performing stock market indexing of the national economic health.

And, I reckon you also figger there was never any corruption at the corporate level until Bush became president, and that the mainstream journalists were too smart to be tricked by any corruption, and they immediately discovered it.
