as for personal taxes.. I remember reading a post a few years ago on si... from a German citizen who I assume recently graduated from college... He left Germany and moved to Ireland and joined one of the high tech firms around Dublin.... He posted he was able to rent an apartment, buy a car and have money left over to do a few things... He mentioned back in Germany the taxes are so high he it would be years before he could afford a car or do some travel etc.... He explain a large portion of personal taxes were to support social programs.. It appears taxes depend on the country in EU

I sent it off to some neighbors who were from Germany many years ago , all they said was yes, taxes are very high compared to U.S.
