flap, I am discussing reality, not a pipe dream. The poor will be with us always. Even Jesus Christ said that. If you look around when you are among minimum wage people, you will see why they are destined to remain at the lower level of society. They just don't give a damn if their job gets done right, or on time, at all. People don't climb the ladder with that very heavy burden of attitude.

For me to agree with you completely, would be like stepping off into a bog of quick sand, so don't hold your breath until I do.

Hi flapjack,

I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment that a vibrant middle class is the best future for our nation. The Republican view seems to be that an ever expanding, mal-educated and malleable underclass is desirable. The best way to make sure the "leaf blowers" and burger flippers can never rise to be a threat to the privileges and perquisites of the pampered plutocrat.

If we want inequality, massive jailing of the citizenry, compounded with the massive jailing of the rich in their gated communities, the Republican vision is the one for us.

I utterly reject the need or desirability of such an oligarchic future.
