No, Arafat has not lived upto the expectations of the Palestenians. He was all talk. He sent youths to their deaths by making them suicide bombers and he himself remained holed up in his office out of fear. he should have come out and faced the Israeli army.

The fall of the mighty British empire started when Gandhi confronted the hordes of British police in his typical non-violent style and led his army of demonstrators and confronted them in a peaceful way. The British blinked. They could have shot Gandhi. But they dare not.

The fall of a super power (Communist Russia) happened when Boris Yeltsin along with a group of youths stood atop a Russian tank in the streets of Moscow and defied the Russina soldiers to fire at him. Eyeball to eyeball and the soldiers blinked.

Arafat failed to show that courage and the Al Aqsa has abandoned him.
