You bet you can beat me in chess!

Very possible! And it's no big deal if it ever happens.

You see, sometimes a third-class player plays a first-class game, and a first-class player sometimes plays a fourth-class game. This sort of thing happens all the time!

You were sadly mistaken in thinking I was easily riled by my detractors' posts.
Not so! There is something which some folks like you don't seem to understand.
And that is, if someone says something outrageous about you, it is necessary
to counter their assertions immediately. Simply because if you choose to ignore
them, some unknowing folks who don't think deeply will think after repeated
allegations had gone unanswered that you are either guilty as charged or there
is some substance to what was said about you.

George Dukakis found this out to his cost when he was running for the presidency
against Bush's dad. Dukakis chose to ignore certain false and malicious allegations
made against him by his enemies thinking that by not responding they would stop
attacking him. He mistakenly assumed that by ignoring all the false charges,
decent folks will think highly of him and tell his enemies to shut up or to vamoose
and scram! But he was sadly mistaken. In the end, simple-minded folks thought
he was guilty of all the false charges made against him. Result: he lost popular
support and was easily defeated by Bush Sr.

You would imagine the damage was over after the elections. Not so! The labels
that were "pinned" on him remained long after the election was over and they
continued to hurt him and his family like gangbusters!

So, understanding the Dukakis Principle, I never let up responding against those
folks who openly declared they were out to get me. Because I took that precaution
I am still happily posting on SI. And I even had fun doing it. So, my unfailing and prompt responding to posts does not necessarily mean I am easily riled. If I appear to be so, it is due to others' perception. That's all.

But why did Dukakis make that terrible mistake? Simply because he came from
a place where decent folks like him tend to ignore allegations made against a person
if that person would ignore the allegations as trivial or of no consequence. Not so in
Amerika! Don't forget that the majority of Europeans who came over soon after WWII
were mostly naive, uneducated or poorly-educated factory hands and farmers. And
the American system of education, even to this day, still leaves a lot to be desired.
It is not an exaggeration that many high schools today are nothing more than cheap
diploma mills, and in many instances, the diplomas issued are not worth the paper
on which they were printed! BTW, does that make me a US basher/enemy for telling the truth
like it is?

So, in order to be taken for a sucker, one has to be vigilant and fight back to put
malicious folks in their place or make them bite the dust! Get it?
