He wrote, "Companies tell their shareholders that options do more to attract, retain and motivate employees than does cash. That's probably true when their stock is going up. Those stock options given to Nortel execs didn't quite work out for shareholders did they? When I quit in 1999 they had a book value of $10 Billion+ and now !!!poof!!!. I find it ironic the last project I worked on there was a software system for dolling out stock options. I left when the system couldn't handle more the 5 users (WebObjects) which was the exact same thing I warned about 6 months earlier. What a Dilbert world.
