AWE is required to have a certain number of cities built out for WCDMA by 2004 if it wants to hang on to its cash infusion from DoCoMo.


Yes and from what I remember it also must deploy the same wCDMA technology that DoCoMo uses. And it doesn't seem to be working all that well. At least not if the sub adds comparison between FOMA and 1X in Japan the last couple of months are any indication.
