It is a good thing, to be sure, even if less than frightening, perhaps it will have a salutory effect on audit firms who are always in cahoots with CEOs in cooking the books.

The punishment doesn't fit the crime, but is at least a cautinary note.

As an investor, I'd want to hear examples of why other firms are now going to mind their Ps and Qs.

There are still soooo many loopholes in extracting profits from a public company, like secret deals through foreign tax havens. If the only penalty is making someone's name "mud", there will be lots of willing volunteers to change their name, for the right price.
