Hi Nadine Carroll; Re "Case in point, Iran"

That's why Algeria would probably be in better shape if the military had simply let the Islamics run things for a decade or two. The average civil (guerilla) war is considerably less humane than the average authoritarian religious government. And the authoritarian religious governments sow the seeds of their own destruction.

Saudi Arabia is a country getting younger, poorer, more Islamic and more anti-American ? as young Saudis react against what they consider a corrupt, irreligious, pro-American regime. Iran is a country getting younger, poorer, less Islamic and less anti-American ? as young Iranians react against an anti-American theocracy, isolating them from the world.

This is the Point that Lewis hit on the head. The Islamic Governments are all so bad that their people hate whatever country their Government loves. What a choice they get, either a King, a Dictator, or a Priest.

On Friedman's Iranian third generation :
sounds like when you send the Baywatch Bunch, the Navy Seals may stay home.

Great deal.
