Leap Wireless Fraud -6: Sees Positive EBITDA By 4Q

DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

According to Leap Wireless' 10-K, the company agreed to a new minimum
consolidated EBITDA covenant that sets targets for Cricket
Communications, its units and the units of Leap Wireless that have wireless
licenses used in Cricket's business. Cricket is a unit of Leap Wireless.

The consolidated EBITDA targets are not less than negative $27 million at
the end of the second quarter, break-even at the end of the third quarter,
positive $9 million at the end of the fourth quarter and positive $45 million
at the end of the first quarter of 2003.

Adjusted EBITDA at the end of the first quarter of 2002 was negative
$65.9 million. This includes expenses of $1.4 million associated with a
reduction in work force but excludes a gain on the sale of a wireless license
of $400,000.

Shares of Leap Wireless traded recently at $1.56, down 12 cents, or 7.1%,
on Nasdaq volume of 1.2 million shares. Average daily volume is 1.8 million
shares.
