blankmind,

Right now I'm looking at REITs as an alternative to equities and bonds. INV is one of about 100 (or thereabouts) funds that has caught my attention. I'm not yet committed to REITs as an investment class, nor have I decided upon any specific REIT or subclass of REIT (residential, commercial entity or office buildings). I'm just generally looking at how other folks have fared in REITs and for any possible "gotcha's", presuming that "gotcha's" exist for REITs. If (or when) I do commit some capital to REITs, it's more likely to be a single part of a well diversified portfolio rather than trying to catch something with some momentum behind it. I'm (generally speaking) a long term, buy-and-hold type of guy who hates paying taxes unnecessarily, so when I buy into something, it's with the intention of holding it for a long time period (minimum 5 years, or longer if the fundamentals stay sound).

Thanks for your response.
