I see an entirely different company in MSFT, and so do most of the programmers I work with.

Also, ORCL has does plenty of things to reduce the cost of ownership of their products, and to broaden their reach. It's true that they don't spend much money trying to push Access-level software, but there is no money in that market. ORCL is making a big commitment to Linux, which is one place that low-end customers that need real databases are headed. And they do have a good NT/2000/XP product, but it is impossible to compete with MSFT on their turf, because they lie and cheat.

I've worked with MSFT "partners" in the past. They no longer exist because MSFT saw fit to develop their "partner" technology in house and then drive the company out of business.
This is a fairly common outcome of MSFT "partnerships". They may create millionaires, especially within their own rank and file. But they also bankrupt thousands as well.
