From current levels, watch for initial resistance at 1540 followed by additional overhead at 1547 and 1555/1559. To the downside, look for initial support at 1537 followed by a secondary floor at 1531.

8:50AM Agilent upgraded at Soundview (A) 23.50: We are hearing from sources that Soundview upgrades to OUTPERFORM from Neutral, saying the shares have slid to a level that leaves substantial room for appreciation as it moves to a profitable Q4 and toward substantial profitability in FY03.

8:05AM Amkor downgraded at Solly (AMKR) 9.93: Salomon Smith Barney downgrades to OUTPERFORM from Buy, cuts 2002-03 ests, and lowers price target to $12 from $21; says outsource assembly and test mkt appears to have slowed last month, in sharp contrast to the very strong pickup recorded in the March qtr; this weakness has been exacerbated by new pricing pressures, which previously were firming. Cuts 2002 est to $(1.65) from $(1.40) and 2003 rev/EPS ests to $1.66 bln/$0.40 from $1.75 bln/$0.70.

8:04AM IBM estimates cut by Salomon (IBM) 76.17: Salomon Smith Barney cuts FY02 estimate to $3.85 from $4.11 (Multex consensus $4.08); sees continued risk for Q2 and says there's a decent chance of a preannouncement in late June, early July.
