In fact, the Bible promises a special blessing to those that study Revelation. I'm sorry you "just can't waste the time studying prophecy". Perhaps God made an "error" in telling people to do just that? If you focus on fallible men, rather than the Scriptures, you certainly will be disappointed. You also can't let the nuts and/or opportunists who see a "prophecy" in every event discourage you from the study. I try to always look at the big picture and not get caught up in the minutiae. It amazes me how people find some "Biblical" teacher/researcher/pastor who gets it wrong, and they are quick to dismiss all of Biblical teaching. Why not take that same approach to medicine or science or finances or academics and throw out all of those teachings as well? People have always been quick to get rid of the Bible and its teachings because it is divisive. Of course, that is the main purpose -- to impart truth and divide the wheat from the chaff. It is quick and powerful. Those who refuse to study further are usually those that feel the most uncomfortable. Anyone can find flaws in others and make excuses for not listening or examining themselves, but the purpose of study is for each individual to find what they should do, not how others "stack up" to them or to the "rules". That, IMO, is why America not only tolerated Clinton for 8 years, but actually condoned his behavior. He imparted the opposite feeling that the Scriptures do. Whereas the Scriptures point out flaws and give feelings of inadequacies that need help, Clinton made everyone feel good about themselves. His behavior absolved people of guilt while letting them continue to participate in negative or unproductive behaviors. The Bible (a personal relationship, but I certainly don't want to preach on the gold thread) also gets rid of guilt, but it does require at least an attempt be made to stop the aforementioned behaviors. Unfortunately, most people do not want to give up things that are wrong. If the President is doing worse things, then I can feel okay about myself. And the fact that I am making money in the inflated stock market is simply a bonus -- this too, will end rather poorly. There is never something for nothing. There is always a price to pay. It may be delayed, but it will be paid. The financial payback, IMO, is just beginning. The eternal payback for some people may not come until they die. They may get away with perceived "happiness" and "riches" for as much as 100 years. But the price always has to be paid. The Bible clearly spells out how this most important price can be paid for us, but clearly, most will always go for the immediate gratification, and "narrow is the way". The current crop of "teachers" are correct in focusing on Europe, IMO. How the 10 or 13 back to 10 actually correlates is part of the minutiae. They can keep on guessing, and that is fine. Would it be better for them to just say, "I don't have a clue"? They do have an audience, just as the stock brokers have one. Of course there are some charlatans in religious and prophetic circles. Unfortunately, they are usually the ones in the media. But as I said, if people applied the same standards to the financial realm that they do to these, they would take all their money back from all brokers and let the stock market simply disappear -- just like so many use the excuses of "religious" wars and TV evangelists to keep themselves from really looking at themselves and taking a hard look at eternity.
