EXACTLY. Only It wasn't all summer long. More like mid-summer when it became evident that Palomino was going to be a fall no show. Little back to school and Christmas. Intel stuffed the shelves with high Mhz P4s while AMD was struggling trying to establish a new chip and worse yet a PR rating that was 6 months late.

At least now they have the .13u t-bred in production but it's yet to be seen if they can get sufficient volume going into the end of the summer using the quasi-fab of UMC.
Would be sad if AMD missed the back to school and Christmas seasons AGAIN.

Milan,

Anyone remember what happened last year? All summer long, there was excellent showing of AMD at retailers, and then, a month before the critical back-to-school season, they completely disappeared from the shelves.

My recollection is that the the disappearance of AMD computers in retail was gradual from the end of Q1 2001 up to Q4 2001. Since than, we have seen a slow comeback, which I think still continues.
