Seems only Intel can do .13u well right now. From what I hear they do it better than they did .18u. Very impressive.

I'd like to comment on Intel's yields but I can't. Remember, Jerry said AMD has the BEST yields in the world. Not just good. Not just World Class, but the BEST in the world so they must be doing better than Intel. Right?

Jim,

I still contend that the achilles heel is UMC and logistics of getting them set up. T-bred is now an orphan and Opteron is the favored child but the way AMD works they miss back to school and Christmas on both.

If AMD can increase production from Dresden at least at current 8M unit rate of sales, UMC will provide the potential for upside, not Achilles heel. If there is no upside, you can consider it Achilles heel, but I wouldn't call it that.

As far as Barton, everyone is assuming that it will be made at UMC. It may be true later on, but I believe they will start production in Dresden.
