ROME, June 17 (Reuters) - The Italian government will lower its forecast for economic growth in 2003 to 2.8 percent from a previous 3.0 percent when it unveils its latest economic programme (DPEF), a government source told Reuters on Monday

The plan is due to be unveiled to employers and unions on Tuesday.

The source said the plan would also pencil in income tax cuts totalling some five billion euros next year.
