TGP, great find! AMD should not have any liability since it seems the patents that Intel may have infringed are explicitly about EPIC, (explicitly parallel instruction computing), formerly known as VLIW.

These techniques were used by many now-defunct companies in the age of vector processing and supercomputers, so I expect that it is almost impossible that Intel did not accidentally infringe on patents. Everybody and their brother (even myself) was doing VLIW, and had patents to protect their inventions. Most of these companies went bankrupt and their patents were probably scooped up for peanuts. I believe Intel is playing in a minefield here.

PS, what/who is "Markman?"
